Tom Ford Summer 2026
Since his solid debut as the creative director of Tom Ford in March, Haider Ackermann has been committed to a tricky task: materialising the idea of seduction through his vision for the brand. That’s because portraying chicness and sensuality, like Ford himself was known to do until choosing to step out of his eponymous label a couple of years ago, is way more complex in 2025 than it used to be in the past. Ackermann’s predecessor, Peter Hawkings, for example, stayed as creative director for only 15 months, despite working behind the scenes for Tom Ford for over two decades.
Excited by the challenge, Ackermann showcased his second-ever collection for Tom Ford in early October at Paris Fashion Week. For Tom Ford spring/summer 2026, the Colombian-born, French-based designer developed a lineup of looks followed by the premise of a “midnight summer swim.” According to him, nothing could be more “dangerous and sexy” than that.
In a dark blue, smoky room filled with mirrors, a trio of almost identical-looking models opened the show, each of them wearing a version of a midi patent full leather look. With a bag in hand and matching hairstyles, shoes and sunglasses, the seductive army of three teased the audience with a deep, burgundy, long-sleeved matching set, a slit-cut green trench, and an all-black number. A clear hint that the Tom Ford men and women don’t go unnoticed.
The Collection
Unlike most contemporary fashion shows, where models walk the runway barely addressing the presence of the audience, this time around, they took a more interactive approach, perhaps to mirror flirtation in real life. Staring at each other and the crowd, each of them carried a powerful gaze, paired cinematically with their outfits.
Talking about outfits, they were Ackermann’s finest, an upgrade from his previous – already praised – show. Exploring a variety of light materials and textures, the clothes fitted just right, from unbuttoned shirts and jackets to deep-neckline dresses, colourful suits to black leather cover-ups that weren’t there to conceal – quite the opposite. Ultra micro shorts were spotted on both men and women, with a matching jacket for her and almost transparent fabric for him. Wearing practically identical electric blue suits, a twinning male-female duo walked confidently, as if that was their stage.
Ackermann’s sensual appeal was always there, either through the sheerness of several provocative pieces, such as silk camisoles, black lace shirts, and light, thin-strapped naked dresses, or with more mysterious propositions, seen in printed skirt and jacket leather sets or the designer’s version of the iconic Tom Ford suit. The latter, reimagined during the fall/winter show in tailored shades of baby pink, bright yellow, lavender, and mint green, has now reappeared in a similar colour palette but with an elegant slouchiness and more of a pastel feel.
Special details and moments…
As for the accessories, the Tom Ford Spring/Summer 2026 focus was on the skinny leather belts, seen several times and worn in multiple ways, as well as the scarves and cashmere sweaters effortlessly placed around the neck. Rotating between ballet flats, leather heels and open-toe sandals, the footwear design was minimal, switching the main focus to the body. A few models carried handbags, which came in a democratic range of small, medium and large proportions, for day duties or nighttime fun.
Italian supermodel Vittoria Ceretti was cast to close the show, carrying a deep-ocean blue mermaid gown perfectly draped on her body. When Ceretti turned around, the backless detail, as if the dress was floating around her silhouette, electrified the audience for one last gasp. An a cappella version of ‘Heroes,’ by David Bowie, – one of Ackermann’s all-time favourites – was played during the finale, with guests cheering in the background. Feels like sensuality is finally back.
