Celine Summer 2026

If most of Paris Fashion Week events took place indoors, the Celine 2026 Summer ready-to-wear show was held closer to nature. Channelling a relaxed sunny Sunday in the park, the collection was presented in daylight on October 5th at Parc de Saint-Cloud, a green space just outside Paris.

This was Michael Rider’s second collection as artistic director, only three months after his Parisian spring debut for Celine in July. However, Rider is not unfamiliar with the French label, having worked as its studio design director in the past, throughout Phoebe Philo’s tenure. The American designer’s vast experience includes a period as senior designer at Balenciaga under Nicholas Ghesquière and a job as creative director for womenswear at Polo Ralph Lauren, his prior role before receiving the Celine offer from LVMH.

All the parts of Celine that are good are still part of Celine,” said Rider to Vogue Runway. The sentence refers to how Rider’s predecessors, Phoebe Philo and Hedi Slimane, respectively, shaped the brand. Philo and Slimane are two of the most celebrated designers of our time, helping to put Celine in the spotlight and increase its desirability. Rider’s new mission, then, is similar to what a few newly appointed creative directors at luxury houses are trying to do—focus on valuable pieces without compromising creativity and, therefore, increase sales.

The Collection

Back to the show, viewed as a continuation of Rider’s first Celine collection, it emphasised wearability and high-quality clothing. Certain items from spring made a fitting comeback for summer, such as the boxing-inspired logo shoes and the silk scarves. The latter, which appeared in various colourways and patterns, was tied to different-shaped handbags in numerous kinds of knots, placed over shirt collars and worn loosely over the shoulders, too.

Skirt suits and mini dresses with A-line silhouettes in black, deep purple, and vibrant floral patterns were a common theme, and every look that showed skin was balanced with a less revealing option. The juxtaposition was guaranteed with more flowy pieces, such as midi tunic-like dresses worn over tailored trousers, floor-length coats paired with airy sandals, and long caped dresses and jumpsuits in monochrome.

The preppy aesthetic, one of Rider’s specialities, is reminiscent of his time at Ralph Lauren and works like magic at Celine. To make it cool rather than too classic, the trick is to master the styling. A double-breasted men’s tailored jacket, for example, was paired with a bright blue shirt and a red beaded necklace underneath.

A slim-fit black suit was unexpectedly worn with brown leather sandals and toe rings. Branded Celine bicycle helmets were carried by a few of the models on the catwalk, contrasting with the formality of the clothes and paying homage to the Parisian cycling lifestyle. Gloves that only covered half of the hands were the cherry on top of many looks.

There were also elements highly influenced by Philo’s and Slimane’s visions for the label. It was possible to notice Philo’s effect, especially on coat and jacket silhouettes, whereas skinny and slim-cut jeans, equally present, honoured Slimane’s favourite types of denim.

Celine, a brand famous for its high-quality trousers, offered a wide variety of choices in that matter. Straight-legged, perfectly cut tailored designs shared the runway with flowy black and white styles, detailed denim, and pleated palazzo options. As a nod to the past, horse motifs recalling the 1967 logo created by the brand founder, Céline Vipiana, were transformed into several prints and embroidered on a jumper, married to black leather trousers.

The bar at Celine is pretty high, but Rider doesn’t want to overcomplicate things. If anything, he wishes to design pieces that can be worn together, separately, or paired with non-luxury items, as long as they stand out in quality and durability. “Celine makes strong fashion out of real clothes and doesn’t need to distract or push into the realm of abstraction in order to excite,” he told W Magazine. Perhaps that’s the secret to success in fashion: to give people what they’ve (actually) been looking for.
