On the sunset of 4th of January, Copenhagen hosted a new fashion revelation for the autumn-winter season. The surprise was protagonized by REMAIN, a fresh and young Danish brand that debuted its collection at its second appearance on the fashion week. The Danish brand was born in 2019 from the traditional label Birger Christensen. In reality, Birger is one of the oldest and most sophisticated fur-crafting brands in Denmark. Led by Danish Creative Director Martin Asbjørn, the brand combines Birger Christensen’s 150-year knowledge with Scandinavian aesthetics.

As a matter of fact, Martin Asbjørn joined the brand in 2023. His experience, extensive knowledge of tailoring, and evidently comprehension of what a modern woman wants from her wardrobe match with the brand’s nature.

The collection

The REMAIN winter 2024 collection is influenced by pragmatism. As a result, the REMAIN line reflects the Scandinavian philosophy of practicality by featuring a variety of products that encourage women’s choice and style freedom. Additionally, Martin Asbjørn reinforced the fundamental idea by stating:

‘For this collection, I wanted to bring together elements of classic and timeless dressing, seen through the lens of today's empowered woman, and by doing so, give it a contemporary and relevant twist. I think my inspiration is always intuitive: I look to the women I see around me—in my own life and in society as a whole—and work to bring together different elements that I think allow them to express themselves. I strive to balance the emotions of empowerment, vulnerability, intelligence, and beauty. Womanhood in its entirety is my true source of creativity.'

The collection’s polished foundation is built on an ambient and somber color palette. Many shades of almost-black emphasize texture and silhouette, while raindrop grey, dark cognac, bitter chocolate, and deep lilac provide depth. Undoubtedly, leather is important in a house with a rich history of leather.

Leather is utilized as a fabric in a variety of ways, including pony skin and reversible fur, printed and cracked finishes, as well as coats, jackets, t-shirts, skirts, and pants.

In addition, details have been magnified or minimized, like small jacket pockets and large shirts’ collars. Furthermore, buttons are hidden behind plackets or quietly covered in cloth. Finally, the colors, materials, and design all had distinct traits that contributed to shape the REMAIN Winter 2024 Collection.
