Nicklas Skovgaard Winter 2024

On January 29, the Danish brand Nicklas Skovgaard unveiled its collection for the seasons of autumn and winter 2024. By opening the Fashion Week of Copenhagen, the new talent showcased the creations inspired by a famous pop era. Here you can see the details of the Nicklas Skovgaard Winter 2024 collection.

As part of Copenhagen Fashion Week’s new talents project, Nicklas Skovgaard presents his second collection in this project. At this time, the designer developed an 80s-inspired set with three figures that influenced the young designer.

The three icons are Tess McGill, a character from the 80s movie “Working Girl,” Lecia Jønsson, a Danish singer from the Danish band “LABAN,” and Annie, the designer’s mother, who worked as an aerobic instructor in London during the 80s. Nicklas specially described Annie’s memories by saying:

“When looking at pictures of her from this part of her life, a few years before I was born, I see these images as small “window-frames” into her way of living, working and dressing in this time of her life”

These three muses, each with their unique personality and style, surely established the creative road for this collection and produced a dilemma that Nicklas Skovgaard intended to trigger on the public. With the simplicity and liberty that the 1980s signified, the collection thematically focused on questions such as: “How do you layer your dress when going out in the cold?”, “How do you dress to feel cool and cozy at the same time?”, and “How should it make you feel?”.

The Show

The show took place at Helligaandshuet, one of Copenhagen’s oldest medieval buildings. It was built in 1296 as a hospital and later served as a monastery, then a library, and today it is a place for exhibitions. Particularly, its main architecture reflects the Scandinavian trend of minimalism and the use of bright colors.

Furthermore, the collection’s materials and techniques include hand-woven brushed wool and alpaca, lambskin leather, silk, and hand-knitted wool. Most of the outfits combined these main materials in various ways, such as skirts, coats, and bodysuits. One of the most distinguishing features of the clothes is that the majority of the items are quite comfy and loose, which is a genuine characteristic of the Scandinavian fashion style and also fits symbolically with the cultural feminine freedom of the 1980s.

To conclude, here you can see the pictures of the 33 looks in the Nicklas Skovgaard Winter 2024 collection.
