The key elements of this puzzle are water and life and Iris decided to show the dilemma with the new Couture collection released on July 3. In this collection, the future of society has been assumed to be in the seas. With cities conquering space on, under, and inside of the ocean, the collection traced a “maybe” scenario with artistic maritime designs. As a result, the works of the French architect Jacques Rougerie and the Belgian architect Vincent Callebaut drove the inspiration of this collection because of their jobs toward these scenarios.
The collection is crafted with new techniques as 3D printing and cutting materials by laser. These techniques are still new and unusual to see in the Couture sphere.
Blue, black, and white are the main color palettes. These colors are a base to more sophisticate tones like metal silver, bronze and gold. At the same time, most of the looks compose a symmetrical embroidered lines that recreate the waves form and sea life. Furthermore, this style is know as the unique mark of Iris Van Herpen style of design. Meanwhile, eco-friendly materials are the main resource for the dresses. Ecologism is one of Iris’s fashion pillars, and this collection still show this ideal.
