Under the shots of the Italian photographer Carlo Scarpato, the photos reveal the amazing designs and patterns of some of the pieces, inspired by Mexican essence and Frida Kahlo paintings.
Frida Kahlo was a Mexican painter best known for her portraits, self-portraits, and paintings reflecting Mexican landscape, culture, and popular art. Her primary goal was to represent a different Mexico than was commonly shown at that time. Some of the paintings can be seen here.
Fruits, animals, and indigenous designs are depicted in dark and tropical colors in the art. Frida’s paintings were a way for her to express her conflicted sentiments about the motherland.
In this collection, plenty of these embroidered designs are the result of the collaboration between Dior and local Mexican artisans.
